Switch It Up
Many of us get into the habit of doing the same workouts over and over again. While being consistent in going to the gym is a great thing, being monotonous in what you do at the gym is not. Switching up your workouts creates muscle confusion which will produce better results. Step outside your comfort zone and try something new! Here are a few ideas to create variety in your workouts:
1. Try a new class. Always going to Zumba? Try kickboxing for a change.
2. Vary your strength training. Use a resistance band instead of dumbbells or free weights instead of a machine.
3. Implement interval training on the treadmill. Instead of running or walking at the same pace, alternate faster and slower paces for 1-2 minutes at a time.
4. Change the exercises you are doing. Schedule an assessment or personal training session for new ideas.
Switching things up will help you break through plateaus!
