Skye Roberts
Skye Roberts is the Owner and Founder of Luna Fitness, a Whole Health Fitness Program tailored for Women; and now Luna Fitness of Tempe, a Comprehensive Health Club for Women only.
Skye began her career as a swimming instructor and lifeguard at the early age of 16 at her local city pool. She then went on to teach swimming lessons and water aerobics at the YWCA. Working with the American Red Cross, Skye taught swimming, certified lifeguards, and taught CPR and Standard First Aid classes.
In 1999, Skye obtained her first Personal Training Certification. She started helping women of all shapes, ages, and sizes reach their personal health goals. Since female trainers were few in numbers at co-ed gyms, the women would naturally request Skye as their trainer because they felt she could understand their bodies better than the male trainers. Time and again she heard complaints from many women about their uncomfortable feelings in these “body building” or “meat market” gyms. After a few years with leading national chains in the Co-ed Fitness Industry, she was ready for a change.
With all the pain and frustration women were going through due to PMS and Menopause symptoms, Skye began noticing how various diet and exercise programs affected these symptoms differently. Not all women were the same. She realized that in order to optimize a woman's health, one needs to optimize their monthly cycle through diet, nutrition, and also paying attention to the very real effect the moon plays in altering this cycle. Since there was no system in place to help women map out a natural approach, Skye set out to create one. So was the birth of the Luna Fitness Program.
Skye's primary focus is on Women's Health. “We all know that heart disease is the number one killer of women.”, she states with passion. “We have to change what is going on in our homes on a daily basis to help us save our families. With the obesity epidemic on the rise, our best way to fight back is to start at home.....with our mothers. If we can teach our mothers how to plan and prepare healthy meals for the family, along with educating her on how to live a healthy lifestyle, that is our best defense to stop obesity for ourselves and our children”. It is little wonder that one of Skye's main mantras is “Save the Woman, Save the World!”
Skye is has a passion for running and hiking and loves Hikes, 5 K Runs, and 10 K Runs for charities. These events outside of the gym help her keep clients motivated to accomplish something that is healthy and fit.
Skye is involved in fund raising for several local charities. Through her Soroptimist club, Soroptimist International of the San Tans, she has helped raise literally over 8 tons of food for our local food bank, used cell phones for domestic violence victims, and thousands of diapers for the local valley diaper bank and this was just during 2008-2009 year. Her favorite way to raise money for charity is to play Texas Hold'em. Hundreds of dollars were raised this year just playing cards for a couple of hours on a Saturday. Helping support local people in need is very rewarding and a strong part of her mission.
