Within any deep tissue massage, a more intense pressure is used to help flush toxins, clear adhesions (areas of tissue that have become bound over time due to dehydration and damage), lengthen muscles, and relieve pain. It can be customized to be more or less intense, and can be either the a focused session (where just areas of concern are addressed) or added to a general relaxation massage to increase the potency of the massage.
Trigger Point therapy uses the understanding that muscles produce excessively tight areas that have a shooting or traveling pain associated with them called referral pain. These referral pain sites often hide other trigger points. This therapy, while very effective is an intense form of body therapy utilizing deeply penetrating pressure to relieve pain cycles.
Myofacsial Release / Energetic therapy is another deliciously deep modality that can be far less intense than trigger point therapy. Myofascial Energetic massage allows the person receiving massage to experience very little discomfort while the practitioner works all the way down to the bone destroying admissions, lengthening tissues and clearing toxins from the tissues of the body.
Swedish Massage is the most basic form of massage. It uses long, broad strokes and gentle kneading across the surface of the skin to illicit relaxation. This gentle form of massage calms the nervous system to help relax the mind and body.
Aromatherapy Massage relies on the olfactory (or smell) center of the brain which is directly linked to the limbic system which governs memory. So it's why smells remind you so vividly of a time, place or experience. But, it's the limbic system's ability to stimulate the circulatory and endocrine system that can have the most powerful effect on health and well being.
Reflexology utilizes the foot as a map of the entire body. A reflexology session can energetically stimulate point specific regions in the body to produce euphoric relaxation while cleansing the body of toxins and helping the overall energetic flow of the body stabilize.
