Leading by Example
As a mother, one of the most important lessons I have learned is my children will do as I do, not as I say. Everyday, my daughters watch the choices I make and the actions I take, mirroring my behavior. With childhood obesity rates at an all time high, having more than tripled over the past three decades, I strive to set a positive example for my daughters.
Many women struggle with making the time to wear many hats- employee, wife, mother, etc and often times end up neglecting themselves. It is important to understand that making time to exercise is not a selfish endeavor. Working out is not just about vanity, but about health. According to Mayo Clinic, one beneficial way to decrease the risk of childhood obesity, is to modify the diet and activity in the parents, as well as the children.

Moms, make time for yourselves to exercise. You are giving to your children and to yourself.
