Independence
Many of us are in a struggle to be personally independent, to think our own thoughts, to have our own belief system and to be true to ourselves. As we mature, and grow, we begin to contemplate the values, and ideals that we were reared with, to see if they truly resonate with us. We may begin this journey by rebelling against the values of our families and communities. When we rebel, we find in reflection that standing in opposition for the sake of being oppositional is only another way that we unconsciously align with the beliefs we first learned.
We fear that dissention from those who love us will make us unloved. We also fear we may be wrong. What if they are right after all? We come to know that it isn’t about being right or wrong, it is about being true. Even if we venture out on a path that we come to find is a dead end, if it was the best choice for us at the time, at least we can own the experience, and we have a new reference point.
Beneath the personality and emotional layer of self, lies the spirit ,and soul. This is our spiritual center that we can access for our Divine truth. Emotions fluctuate, personalities can be complex, but our Divine truth is a solid foundation for us. It is the comforting peace that we find through silence, nature, meditation, and prayer. I often ask my clients who are having some trouble accessing their truth to place their hand on their heart (or heart chakra) and see if they might access their Divine truth more easily.
Because of societal conditioning, sometimes we aren’t even aware that our beliefs, values, and choices are really not our own. Is it really better to be thinner? Is having expensive beautiful things really central to happiness? Will you be happier when you find your soul mate? Do you have to have children (or fill in the blank) to be complete? If we want to be liberated, free, and independent, let’s commit to making conscious our beliefs, and ideals to find if we are drumming with a tribe, which we no longer belong to. When we have asserted energy on a belief or ideal we may want to ask ourselves “Is that really true for me?”
Love and blessings to those in the U.S. and abroad.
Special blessings to our troops and those who love them.
