What do our symptoms tell us?

Symptoms are not a great predictor of health, as problems often are present long before we notice them. A perfect example of this is a cavity. The cavity did not appear the day you began feeling pain, but in actuality was present long before you felt it. This is why we utilize preventative care in dentistry, right? Another example lies in automobile maintenance. You change your oil every 3-4,000 miles right? But why is that? Prevention. You would hate to be stuck on the side of the road on a sweltering day with a car that won't start, so you take care of your car. Sadly, many of us take better care of our cars than our bodies!

This well known concept applies to chiropractic care as well. Many times a misalignment of the spine is present long before you get a stiff neck or sore lower back. Our day to day activities often produce stress and tension, which in return can result in muscle tightness. Often times the spine is affected as well, the result being a lack in range of motion, lower back pain, or headaches among other symptoms. Regular chiropractic adjustments not only help you feel your best, but they also can prevent disabling symptoms such as sciatica from appearing and keeping you from going about your day.

What are YOU doing to prevent symptoms in your life? Eating well, exercising, and utilizing preventative health care such as chiropractic care is not only smart, but it saves you time, hassle, and aggravation!
