Obviously, menopause is not just limited to the United States. So why keep this blog within those borders? The Irish Times reported today that over half of women are "seriously affected" by menopause. Among a great many interesting findings, the survey by Ireland's Women's Health Council found that hot flashes, night sweats, irritability, and mood swings were the top four symptoms of menopause. Furthermore, the majority of women have a hard time pinpointing when menopause actually starts. Read the article here.

Elsewhere: NBC reports that smoking during pregnancy can bring on menopause earlier in life. Add to this the well known fact that smoking can actually harm the fetus, and you've got yet another reason to quit smoking while you can.
