Sweating Is a Good Thing
The biggest organ in our body is our skin. It is also one of our main outlets for getting rid of toxins from our body. Almost 30% of our bodies "Waste" or toxins are eliminated through our skin via sweating. This is why our skin is sometimes referred to as the "Third Kidney"
Sweating is a good thing. So many of us do everything in our power to keep from sweating, because society has taught us to “Never let 'em see you sweat” or “Raise your hands if you're sure”. So we have all these high powered antiperspirants to keep us from sweating so we don't look nervous OR we think sweating is not sexy. However, it is a known fact that the more you sweat the healthier you are.
Having trouble breaking a sweat? Could be a couple of things. Are you clogging your skin's pores with lotions, oils, soaps, makeup, etc? Are you staying hydrated? Are you eating too much table salt and not enough sea salt (iodine)? Are you exercising regularly at a moderate to high intensity? Is there an underlying medical problem?
Here are a few ways to help promote sweating.
1. Cardiovascular exercise. You should always check with your doctor before starting an exercise program. Once you get the okay, come try our Zumba, Spin, or Step Aerobics classes. You will definitely work up a sweat with our instructors! Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated.
2. Foods such as caffiene, herbal teas, and cayenne pepper have promoted sweating in some people.
3. Infrared Body Wraps. (My personal favorite) Aside from the fat loss benefits, this machine will take someone who never really sweats and turn them into a good sweater after just a few treatments. I can literally ring sweat out of my clothes when I am done with this treatment.
For more information, go to the spa tab and read about all the benefits of the infrared wrap, or call us at 480-456-5767. In the meantime....Move More, Drink More Water, and Break a Sweat!
