This weekend I have been attending a Stretch Therapy Certification Workshop. I have been enlightened to a whole new way of Flexibility Training. Who knew I had a spiderman suit underneath it all!?!? Fascia is an amazing part of our bodies that most people don't even realize it exists. And until you experience a Fascia Stretch Therapy session, you have know idea how it's all connected! Wow what a difference from the traditional "Old School" stretch experience. Being a very active, athletic woman who has her own physical restrictions and limitations, this has been a great weekend of treatment for me. Thanks to Kimberly and Mary who "Practiced" on me while we were getting our instruction from Ann and Chris. I hope you enjoyed my work on you as well. Of all the new "positions/techniques" we learned and experienced, the "Sack of Buns" takes the cake! Hallelujah, Can I get a Witness! I must say that I have movement in my hips and release of tension deep within my glutes that no other treatment has produced so quickly and effectively. The results were INSTANT for ALL of us! And trust me ladies, I have tried MANY treatments to help with my hip and back pain.
So here we are in April, 2010 and I am making great progress in gaining more flexibility and removing stress from my life. However, for me it's still all about the little things done daily....... The Daily Routine! Throughout life as we grow and change, we must learn how to modify our daily routine to stay focused on optimal health. Drinking water all day long being the MOST important daily routine in my book, followed by 8 hours of restful sleep being a close 2nd. It will be interesting to see how adding 2 or 3 stretches to my daily routine with this new technique, along with once a week private sessions with a fascia stretch therapist will change me. Will I have more pain free days? Will I increase my performance? Guess you'll have to wait for my next blog and see what happens.
In the mean time..... I am EXCITED to say that we will be implementing Fascia Stretch Therapy to the Luna Fitness Program. It will be offered in a group format in 30 minute classes with several time slots on our May Group Fitness Class Schedule. AND for all the ladies who would like to know more about the "Sack of Buns", we will also offer Private sessions. Looking forward to helping all the ladies!
