The power of a workout buddy is key as we continue to work toward better health and weight loss. Working the early shift at Luna Fitness, I notice a significant difference when I compare the workout buddies to the women who work out by themselves. Women that have developed relationships with others and work out together, tend to come to the club more often and are more consistent. This is also true of women that work with personal trainers. It's just human nature that we need accountability.

Case in point: When I tried to run and bike on my own, it didn't always get done. I was too tired or had too much to do. The result was backsliding, plateauing, frustration! In my last blog I talked about switching up one's exercise routine. I have to tell you that it has worked well for me! In addition, I made the decision that I was going to get up early on the days I am not at Luna Fitness and exercise with my spouse. We have been running twice a week and biking and hiking the other days. Many days I would not get up if he didn't bring me my coffee and just BE THERE. Since I began working out with him I have been 100% consistent and I am seeing results!

Having a workout buddy sometimes makes us push ourselves harder. This is where the curse comes in for me. HA! Yesterday I got in a fight with my workout buddy. So I took off out the door and into the dark to go for a run by myself. I ran a couple of blocks and suddenly a runner came up swiftly behind me. It about scared me half to death, but it was my workout buddy. I ran faster as he continued to spout off. I said, "Go run another route! I don't want to listen to you rant and rave for four miles!" He agreed to be quiet and just drink his water as I took off faster. A coyote crossed the street in front of us and creatures were scurrying in the bushes. I thought to myself, "I hope something bites him!" Anyway, we cut 5 minutes off our running time. Tee hee!

So if you haven't considered it, find someone to work out with. It could be a friend, spouse, or personal trainer. Have a little fun working out with someone!
