More Is Better.....for some things.....
According to the American Heart Association doing light to moderate yard work, house work, gardening, or dancing at home for 30 minutes every day is good for heart health and lung health. More is Better when you consider that most of us don't drink enough water every day or move our bodies long enough to break a good sweat for 30 minutes DAILY! Of course more intense exercise like a Zumba Dance Class, Spin Classes, or Step Aerobics may motivate you to move faster for longer intervals to push you past your comfort zone and get a great workout. One must also consider flexibility and the need to remove tension from our muscles. Tight muscles are stressful to our bodies and can keep us from sleeping well at night. One must focus on stretching or flexibility training to reduce muscle tension, soreness, and stiffness, along with reducing the risk of injury and improving performance. More is better when it comes to stretching throughout each day, especially after a good workout, a long period of sitting or driving, or focusing on muscles that are prone to being tight due to bad posture.
More is Better when it comes to eating several times through out the day. Your body works best when it is “refueled” frequently, every 3 or 4 hours, each day. Also consider this, the better the quality of fuel (Food) the more efficient your body will run. So eat more whole foods that are organic and less of the processed and chemical laden foods. Another golden rule is to eat a good breakfast within 30-60 minutes of waking up. Then eat small to medium meals every 3 to 4 hours after that. This will help keep your metabolism working as efficient as possible , give your body the energy it needs, help with hunger and food cravings, and promote weight loss. You must find your balance of calories for your body. Everyone is different and has different caloric needs. Eating too little is NOT good. You must give your body the right combination of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. The focus should be on eating as healthy as your can, sticking to your daily calorie allotment, and exercise a little or a lot most days, if not everyday!
If your a beginner, so what. There is no better time to start than right now. Just start off slow and increase your intensity and duration as your body is ready. If you are already on a program, then keep it going. Remember to always pace yourself and push yourself to your own limits, don't worry about what everyone else is doing. Consistent exercise, plenty of water, and healthy eating habits create healthy families!
