Dare to Dream Big
Quotes of the Week
It's the heart afraid of breaking that never learns to dance. It is the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance. It is the one who won't be taken who cannot seem to give. And the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live."
The Rose (Bette Midler)
"To dream anything that you want to dream. That's the beauty of the human mind. To do anything that you want to do. That is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself to test your limits. That is the courage to succeed."
Bernard Edmonds
Yoga Pose (Asana) of the week
Mukta Hasta Sirsana
Tri-pod Headstand
Get out of your head and onto it...fill the brain with fresh ideas and dare to dream!
Fitness Tip of the Week
Set SMART goals
Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Realistic
Timely
Vague, open ended goals such as "lose weight" don't give you any focus.
Reduce my Body Fat percentage by 2 percent (specific and MEASURABLE) in 6 weeks. (realistic and timely)
It's great to have an overall goal, but set milestones along the way to help keep yourself motivated and on track!!
Mind of Aminda
Last week we talked about transforming or overcoming obstacles...but what are the obstacles getting in the way of? Living!!! Living to our fullest, highest, truest potential and purpose. I am finding that our biggest obstacle is simply our limited thinking.
My fitness tip talks about these very specific goals and I was hesitant to talk about that the same week as dreams as it seems counterintuitive, but they are related. Think of SMART goals as the building blocks, the foundation to achieve the overarching dream. But for them to lead to something we need to envision where we are going...and I'm not talking about little things like losing weight or getting a new car or getting out of debt (OK they are pretty important - but really they are distractions to what is REALLY REALLY important)
I'm talking about those pie in the sky, life changing, world changing visions. Those dreams that perhaps you dreamt as a child but now think are silly? Those dreams and aspirations that others might have told you were unrealistic? Those dreams that make your heart exalt at the mere idea....What do you want to be when you grow up? Who do you want to influence? How do you wish to serve your community?
I dream of creating a haven that benefits animals and children in need; of being a catalyst for happiness and change...and when my heart swells at the idea my mind will creep in and tell me that it's impossible or crazy--- so this week I invite you to listen only to the heart --- only to the dream....and take the steps to see them come true.
