Chiropractic care and infertility
So you're ready to start a family. You're financially set, have your favorite names picked out, and have a room all ready for the baby. You try for a month, with no success. Another few months go by with still no success. Once a couple has been attempting to conceive for 1 year, the name "infertility" is suddenly in all of their conversations, and they're left wondering what could possibly be wrong. Some couples decide the time has come and are pregnant a month later. This is often not the case, however, as more and more couples are struggling to conceive. There are many options out there for those struggling with infertility, however most of them are fairly costly and when something such as in-vitro fails it can be very discouraging.
So what are some natural options for those looking to treat infertility without the costly proceedures? Chiropractic care, acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, nutritional therapy, and physical exercise are a few things that are becoming more common. Pilates and yoga will also help balance pelvic muscle tone, allowing for a more favorable enviroment for a new life to form. An increase in blood flow to the reproductive organs helps them to function properly. Many of these natural therapies have low risk, fewer side effects, are less stressful on both partners, and are much lower cost alternatives to more invasive proceedures.
A number of studies have shown that chiropractic care can be very beneficial for treating infertility. Chiropractic adjustments may help to stabilize the autonomic nervous system and allow the reproductive organs, such as the uterus, ovaries, or prostate, to function properly. Chiropractic adjustments may also have an affect on the hormonal balance of the body, and cranial therapy may help the body find balance. If there is a structural reason for the infertility, such as an imbalance of the pelvic floor muscles or uneven tension in the uterus, chiropractic adjustments can help relieve this to restore normal function to the area. It is a great treatment to start with because it is safe, effective, non-invasive and cost effective. The Webster technique is done by specially trained chiroprators, with the effect of removing interference in the pelvis to promote an optimal space for a fetus to grow once conception has occurred.
