A "Balance" Diet
Of all the questions I get asked as a personal trainer one of the most popular is “Which diet do I recommend?” I usually reply with “the one you stick to”. The problem with most people is they follow their “diet” until they either A. can't take it and quit or B. get to their goal or lose some weight and then go back to their old ways. If you don't change your lifestyle, the reason you are in the current shape you are in, then you won't have lasting results. This is why so many people fail at weight loss..... If you don't get enough sleep, eat too much junk food, have a stressful life and don't manage your stress well, lazy and don't exercise, or whatever your downfall is, you have to change. It may be several things you need to change in your day to day life, and with the right attitude and guidance anything is possible.
The fact is you have to eat less calories than you burn in order to lose weight. So no matter what diet ever worked for you in the past, you ate less calories and moved more. Timing and balancing your meals also play a role in weight loss along with proper exercise, rest, and “down time”. Obviously the better the quality of food you eat the better you'll feel in the long run. Plus we all need to “MOVE” our bodies everyday. Do something....stretch out! Most of us need to be more flexible. Balance, you must find your own balance of food and exercise. Too much exercise is not going to correct bad habits either. Doing 2,3, even 4 hours of workouts or group fitness classes at the gym are too much on your body in one day. I recommend trying to lose 1-2 lbs per week. So find the "Balance" of healthy eating, cardio/aerobic training, and muscle conditioning along with flexibility, and you are on the path to a healthier you!
By the way.....
Yes, you can mess up ALL your hard work from just 1 BAD MEAL! Thousands of calories can be consumed in just 1 sitting. More than just the large consumption of calories, it's all the internal triggers certain foods set off in your body, especially chemicals found in processed foods and the fake sugars.
First decide that you are ready for change. Plan, Prepare, Then do it! We all fall down here and there and make mistakes. So what. Keep moving, stay focused, and you will be successful.
Luna Fitness is here to support you through motivation and education classes. Every week we offer seminars on nutrition, stress management, hormones, exercise, and support groups. Check the schedule to find the classes that will help you. See you at the gym!
