Workout Travel Tips - Don't Take a Vacation from Fitness!

I recently returned from a three week vacation and when I weighed myself I was happy to see that the scale did not go up! Vacation can be a time of overindulgence, whether it be with food, drink or being too sedentary. Following are 4 quick tips to keep those summer shorts fitting and your tank tops rockin':

1) Have a Plan. Envision when and where you will work out. Will it be in the am or pm? Will it be in the hotel fitness room or outside? What sort of exercise will you do?

The Power, Blessing and Curse of a Workout Buddy

The power of a workout buddy is key as we continue to work toward better health and weight loss. Working the early shift at Luna Fitness, I notice a significant difference when I compare the workout buddies to the women who work out by themselves. Women that have developed relationships with others and work out together, tend to come to the club more often and are more consistent. This is also true of women that work with personal trainers. It's just human nature that we need accountability.

What New Year's Resolution? Fight for Your Goals!

A few blogs back I talked about Rededicating yourself to your goals. How's that going? I can tell you that yours truly has "fell of the wagon" more than a few times since January in many areas of my life. I think it's really human nature. That's why we need to fight our true nature, believe in ourselves and achieve. Just how do we do this and what are tools we can use?

Give Yourself Permission and Listen to Your Body

It's interesting to me how some days when exercising, I feel as though I could go forever, and other days it's as if I never worked out in my life! Ever feel that way? Some days I feel like Superwoman, and others I feel like an Old Woman.

"Off" days happen for a reason. Nutrition, hydration, monthly cycle, quality of sleep, climate, and mental attitude all play a part in even the most dedicated of us workout queens.

Boot Camp Extreme: Are You Tough Enough?

Hello, Ladies:
I hope you're having a great start of the week! I wanted to let you know that I will be offering "Boot Camp Extreme" sessions very soon!

Some of you might ask, "What are the benefits of a boot camp?" The benefits are many!

First of all, a boot camp format gives you a unique, yet fun, group atmosphere. You will be with the same women every week and will work hard together. The boot camp is tailored for beginners on up to advanced fitness enthusiasts. And each week you will have a different challenge before you!

"Spring" Into Spring

In my last blog I wrote about rededicating oneself to an exercise program. And since then, I have biked and ran pretty consistently. The results: a few lbs. lost :-). So as I basked in the glory of my small victory, Easter Sunday came along. Note to all: NEVER, EVER weigh yourself the day after Easter. HA! It took about a week to get all that sodium out of my system and get back on track. No more ham for me, ma'am.

Do As I Say, Not as I Do: Rededicating yourself to exercise

Greetings, All:
One might think personal trainers and fitness instructors don't struggle with exercise and diet. Wrong! A few months ago, my family and I relocated from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, otherwise known as "The Tundra." In the harried, stressful act of putting the house up for sale, showing the house and being the only parent to four children, (hubby has been here since October), I couldn't stay motivated to exercise.

Have you found your "Inner Anna?"

Back in the 1700's in Sweden, there lived a woman named Anna Spinnel. She and her husband were looking for land and found a piece that would be perfect for their farm. Unfortunately, a wealthy merchant also wanted that land. In order to claim the land, one needed to travel to Umea, Sweden and ask the Governor.
