I recently heard on the radio an astonishing number of reported food allergies. The commercial was seeking donations for a cure for food allergies. In the mean time, do what has always been done with allergens - AVOID THEM! I have been working with people with food allergies since I became a doctor and was exploring the implications long before that. I myself have food allergies - the worst for me is oranges. I discovered I had a food allergy when I was out in the field with the Marines for two weeks eating only the meals-ready-to-eat out of the brown pouch.

Congratulations! on beginning your weight loss program. Here are some helpful tips to increase your health and increase the quality of the foods you are eating.
Foods: Eat fresh fruits and vegetables daily. Rinse them before you eat them to avoid eating pesticides or buy organic if possible. Vegetables should be lightly steamed or raw. Steamed greens such as collards, chard or dandelion greens are helpful to give your body much needed B vitamins to assist in weight loss and to protect your organs.

Relationships can open your world in a very short amount of time. Especially if you have been alone for a time looking for the right partner, roommate, or lover. A great relationship allows each person to grow and express themselves all the while supporting the partner. Mutual respect, clear communication, time apart and time to spend romantically involved with each other can only make a persons world shine! It seems so many people are trying to lose weight and having a difficult time! What I hear in the gym is basically three reasons.
1) its my hormones or 2) I am just getting old or 3) I can't stop eating this junk food. And sometimes there are those "overacheivers" that have to do it all and blame it on all three! Really getting to the real reasons you may be holding weight is the bottom line.

This season has been particularly bad for my clients in regards to allergies. It seems that people are getting boggy sinuses from their usual or new environmental allergens such as pollen or dust or molds. Then after having the sinus condition for a while, it weakens the immune system leaving an open invitation for microbes to take hold and cause upper respiratory issues. Some people have reported being "sick" for about 4 weeks! Of course these are not my usual clients, but people seeking help for their allergies.

As we all know, proper nutrition is vital to our children's developement. Many of us work out regularly and have an established routine that helps us maintain our weight. Some of us sporadically work out without a set schedule or routine. Then there are those of us that have no idea how to work out or where to start. When selecting a gym to work out of, it's a good idea to consider the things that are important to you. To me, flexibility of classes and equipment is important. Over the years in the Marines, I learned so much about working out.

One of the questions I am asked often is how often do I have to detox my body? I usually have my clients detox once a quarter. Over the course of 3 months we are exposed to different toxins and different stressors that cause us to make unhealthy choices in our diets or exercise habits. Sometimes we require a very deep detoxification schedule that must be physician supervised. Simple detoxification is usually indicated for most people anytime we are feeling sluggish, tired or know that stress may be coming up.
