A Healthy Alternative!!

As the weather is starting to heat up, I've found myself craving cold snacks throughout the day. I started searching websites for the perfect treat that would be both satisfying and healthy. Finally, I came across the nutty banana nibblers. At only 160 calories, 4 grams of fiber, and 3.5 grams of protein per serving it was exactly what I was looking for. I modified the recipe slightly for my own taste but here is the original:

Ingredients:
5 Ripe bananas
1 TBSP Creamy peanut butter
2 oz. Nonfat vanilla greek yogurt

Directions:

Bye Bye Neck Pain!!

Tone and Stretch

Thank you to those members who have immediately opened their minds and bodies to the benefits provided by stressing and strengthening their bodies through techniques borrowed from pilates and tai (in the first half hour of class), then learning to repair and restore the affected tissues through a class adapted fascial stretch method (in the second half hour of class). Please continue to bring your bodies, your minds and your input. All are greatly appreciated.

Reaching Your Goals!

Where do you want to be in 1 month, 2 months, or more? What is your overall health and wellness goal? You could have goals ranging from losing some pounds on the scale or inches around the waist to feeling less stressed and being happy with how you look and feel. Your quarterly assessments are great tools to use for seeing where you were when you first started, where you are now, and to make a plan for where you want to be in the future. Utilize these assessments to help keep you accountable and on track to your health and wellness goals. Stop by the front desk and get scheduled in today!

Why Not Pecans.

Pecans deserve their reputation as a health food mostly due to their monounsaturated fat content. The same kind of heart-healthy fat found in olive oil. Pecans are also full of nutrients like potassium, vitamin E, phytosterols, and beta-sitosterol, a plant compound that has been found to lower cholesterol. One portion of pecans has approximately 3grams of fiber. A portion = 20 pecan halves.

Raspberries, - Wow!

Raspberries have a lengthy list of reasons to be considered a powerhouse food. I will give you just one reason in this writing. Raspberries are a high-fiber powerhouse. At 64 calories/cup, they provide 8 grams of dietary fiber. So, calorie for calorie, they are one of the most high-fiber foods. You would have to eat more than 100 calories worth of black beans to get the same amount of fiber.
